By far the worst part of the process was basting the quilt.  The quilt was laid out and taped down to smooth out any wrinkles.  Then we sewed lines of basting every 3-4 inches to keep the layers (quilt, batting, backing) from shifting, and tied every intersection in the light blue chain to add durability.  Shannon looks happy here, but this took a whole day and led to sore knees and backs.  Again, this work was closely supervised by The Great White Inspector.
